Graphical User Interface Design Discover Channel Platform

Co-inventor & Patent: “Display screen or a portion thereof with graphical user interface”

• Resulting in a patent, led UI design for the first editorial interface design solutions for Discover Channel Platform.
• Designed visual identity directions for 12 original publishers: CNN, Cosmo, National Geo, NYTimes, Mail, Central Comics, News.com.au, and more.
• The designs of the features repositioned Snapchat app as a distributor of news, current events, pop culture.

Creative Process: Analyzed the challenge, researched each publisher’s standard brand guidelines to ensure brand’s consistency, developed concepts, and various design solutions as authentic to each publisher’s brand design system for user interface as prototypes using design signifiers (hierarchy of color, typography, graphics, layout).

Collaborated with Product Designer team for delivery.

Design Collateral Campaign Security Engineering

“Black Hat”

Concept:
• Designed concept-driven compelling visual collaterals to attract and recruit hackers at Black Hat Conference.
• Strategized the concept of a “Spying Hacker Chillah”, to connect with other hackers for recruitment.
• Resulted in attracting world-class Software Engineers to satisfy the demand of each Engineering Team’s fast growth.
• Collaborated closely with each stakeholder: Engineering teams: Security, Research, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Camera Platform, and Scientists.

Conferences: Siggraph, CVPR (Computer Vision & Pattern Recognition), NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers), KDD (Data Mining Association), MOJO (Military), and Grace Hopper.

The campaign was featured on Fortune.com as “What Snapchat Was Doing at Black Hat” and “Snapchat’s mascot ‘Ghostface Chillah,’ as the spy edition”

• Designed and delivered purpose-driven and compelling visual collaterals in various styles and mediums (mobile lens, exhibit design, swags, and in print).
• Attracted to recruit world-class talents, to satisfy the demand of company’s rapid growth (from 300 to over 3,000 employees).
• Worked closely with multi-disciplinary teams (i.e., HR, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Recruitment) to develop concepts, design directions, and execution.

Designed the standard style requirements to ensure the brand's consistency, across multiple applications and formats addressing the brand’s voice, logo usage, typography, colors, mascot, iconography, and media style.

A collaborative effort with language designer and creative strategist in the marketing department.

Designed Snap’s first Holiday Guide and created new Snapchat Ghost Chillahs to represent each holiday.

“DEmoday

Engineers (+ all other departments) are encouraged to submit ideas to result in product ideas and business growth. Based on Snap’s motto (Invent, Iterate & Implement), I designed ‘A Call for Action Ad’ to prompt the reader to take steps on the message about inventing creatively.

Concept: If you don’t take action (don’t Invent, don’t Iterate, don’t implement), nothing will be invented - Submit your idea!
